NHS urges people to keep routine antenatal and vaccination appointments

The NHS ‘Help Us Help You’ campaign is encouraging people to continue attend routine maternity care and vaccination appointments during the coronavirus pandemic.

The campaign was launched in response to concerns that some people are, risking their long-term health and their lives by delaying getting treatment due to coronavirus fears.

While preventing the spread of Covid-19 is a public health priority, screening and immunisations leads in the North West say it is vital that people keep scheduled vaccination appointments if they are well to stop outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases and to protect vulnerable groups including children, babies and pregnant women.

Pregnant women have also been urged to continue to attend scans and other antenatal appointments and to contact their maternity team straight away if they have any concerns about their own health or that of their unborn baby.

GP practices and hospitals have strict infection prevention and control measures in place to ensure it is safe for people to attend appointments.
