Mid Cheshire Hospitals Visiting Restrictions During The Coronavirus
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, like the whole NHS, is working to help respond safely to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
Following national guidance they are putting temporary restrictions in place for patient visitors and will be asking the public to consider other ways of keeping in touch, such as phone calls.
From Monday 23 March their arrangements are:
To protect patients, visitors and staff, Leighton Hospital and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre are now closed to all visitors with the following exceptions:
- Emergency Department
- Critical Care Unit
- Women and Children’s
- Patients receiving end of life care.
In these areas:
- Visiting is restricted to one hour per day between 4pm and 5pm with the exceptions of patients receiving end of life care.
- During that hour only one visitor can visit the patient unless: the patient is receiving end of life care or the visitor needs to be accompanied.
- Visitors must be an immediate family member or carer only.
- No Children under the 12 should be visiting – without the ward sister or charge nurse’s prior permission.
- Women in labour are permitted to have one partner/birthing partner.
All visitors to Leighton Hospital are asked to report to the Main Entrance reception before visiting any ward or department.
Please do not enter if you are unwell (especially if you have a high temperature or a new, persistent cough), are over the age of 70 or are vulnerable as a result of your medication or a chronic illness.
While they understand the difficulties this may cause, the measures are an important part of the effort to contain the spread of coronavirus.
They also ask that families try to make one call to the wards for an update on their loved ones to help them manage the level of incoming calls.
They ask you again to please cooperate with staff and respect these guidelines.
You are also reminded to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
