New Health and Wellbeing Strategy launched for Cheshire West and Chester

1 April 2026

A new Health and Wellbeing Strategy has been developed to guide how organisations across Cheshire West and Chester will work together to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities between 2026 and 2031.

The strategy sets out a shared vision to reduce inequality, increase years of healthy life and improve mental and physical wellbeing for residents.

It has been co-produced with partner organisations, residents, and people with lived experience, and shaped through engagement and consultation across the borough.

Engagement included a wide range of community organisations and groups, including Healthwatch Cheshire West, the Poverty Truth Advisory Board and Disability Live! Chester, alongside a public consultation where residents and stakeholders shared their views.

Healthwatch Cheshire West is free from the influence of the services we scrutinise — we contributed to the development of this strategy by engaging with residents across the borough, including seldom heard groups and rural communities. Because we work without fear or favour, people felt able to share their honest views with us, ensuring those experiences helped shape the priorities at the heart of this strategy.

“We welcome the launch of the Health and Wellbeing Strategy and are proud to play our part in working with partners and communities to improve health and wellbeing across Cheshire West and Chester.”
