CWP rated ‘Good’ by CQC

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) have rated Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust as ‘Good’ following a recent report.

Locally, CWP provide a range of services throughout Cheshire and Wirral including; mental health, learning disability, general practice and community physical health services.

The CQC’s findings came after an inspection was carried out, at CWP, in 2018. In their report, the national health watchdog found that CWP were again ‘Outstanding’ in the caring category, the highest accolade they can give.

CWP is the only NHS provider in Cheshire and Wirral to receive an ‘Outstanding’ rating for caring, and the only NHS mental health services provider in the North West to receive this rating.

In their report, the CQC looked at a range of different categories through which to inspect CWP services. As well as rating the Trust ‘outstanding’ for care, they gave CWP a ‘Good’ rating overall.

CWP chief executive, Sheena Cumiskey, was thrilled by the news. She said: “The award of our ‘outstanding’ rating for caring is fantastic news for our organisation and a wonderful tribute to the hard work and dedication of our staff. As a Trust, we are committed to providing the most compassionate, person-centred care possible to those who access our services. We recognise that there are areas we need to work on, and we will strive to improve in those areas, so that our already-outstanding care can be improved.”
