Cheshire West and Council ‘Play Your Part’ initiative

Cheshire West and Chester Council want to hear your views on the challenges and opportunities facing Cheshire West and Chester over the next few years.

• How could the Council make a difference?
• How should we fund tackling these challenges?
• How could you and your community play a part?

They want to start a conversation about what the Council’s focus should be for the next four years, how they use the budget and how you may want to get involved.

The Council need to work alongside residents, communities, young people, partners, businesses and other organisations. Together we all play a part in making the borough a great place to live, work and invest in.

There is also considerable uncertainty about future budgets and demands on services continue to rise. The budget remains tight. The Council needs to bridge a £67 million funding gap over the next four years. After business rates and council tax are accounted for, the gap remains between £11 million and £27 million, depending on the national funding available. Therefore they say they need to focus on priorities and do things differently.

Please share your views on the challenges facing the borough and the budget proposals. You can tell the Council what you think about all the challenges or just those that interest you. Simply select a challenge to find out more or you can comment on all the challenges together.

This engagement exercise will be open from 10 October until 5 December 2019.

Please note that the forthcoming General Election means that all local councils have to be mindful about their communications and engagement activities and ensure they remain neutral. Therefore, the Council are unable to hold our Cabinet Question Time event on 11 November and will look to hold a new, online debate next year. They are also unable to publish any new comments on their ideas boards or interactive map.
